The Department was established in the year 2001 with an intake of 60 students, intake was increased to 120 in 2006 and 180 in 2011.Additional intake of 60 seats was sanctioned in 2015 under shift programme. From 2020-2021 onwards shift programme intake is converted in to regular intake is 240. Post graduate course in VLSI System Design was sanctioned in 2008 with an intake of 18 seats and Communication Systems in 2022 with an intake 18 seats. Department was accredited by NBA thrice. The department is headed by Dr.B.Subrahmanyeswara Rao with the Teaching Experience of 24 Years and has experienced teaching and non-teaching faculty. Department Classrooms, Laboratories and staff rooms are well furnished with Wi-Fi facility. The department is contributing towards research by encouraging the faculty in various fields and Nano Technology research center was established in 2009.
